About Our School

Spratton CE Primary has been at the heart of our village since 1819, when the church was given land to build a school for 150 children. Many families in the village can trace back four or more generations who have attended the school. In 2018, we became part of the Peterborough Diocese Education Trust (PDET), which helps us continue to grow and thrive.

In 2022, we proudly celebrated over 200 years of providing excellent education to children in Spratton and nearby villages. Our local historian, Enid Jarvis (below), has written a wonderful book all about our school’s history, which even won an award! You can buy a copy in the village shop or online through the Spratton Local History Society: Publications - Spratton Local History Society.

As a village school, we’re closely connected to our community, church, and local groups. We’re lucky to have large outdoor spaces, including a trim trail, a school field, a pond, a Forest School area, and wildlife zones—all with lovely countryside views.

Our small class sizes (between 15 and 20 pupils in a class) mean we can offer lots of exciting learning experiences beyond the classroom. Children go on trips to museums, libraries, places of worship, and sports venues - even pizza making! We welcome visitors like our local PCSO, community helpers, and reading volunteers. All children take part in regular sports competitions through our partnership with Pacesetters Sports and Wellbeing, who also run a popular holiday club at school.

Every other year, our older children (KS2) have the chance to go on a residential trip, giving them a chance to learn and grow away from home.

Lots of what we get up to is available to see on our Facebook and Instagram feeds; see our Social Media page for links: Social Media (News & Events menu tab)

If you’d like to come and see our school in action, please get in touch with the school office—we’d love to welcome you!
