Mental Health Support
At Spratton, we care deeply about the mental health and wellbeing of our children and our wider community. We want every child to feel happy and supported, growing up in families where mental health is a priority.
Our Senior Mental Health Lead, Mrs. Crofts, has received specialist training to help ensure that wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do as a school.
Our Family Support Worker, Mrs. Allcott, is highly experienced in helping children and families with emotional wellbeing. She has specialist training in Emotional Literacy Support and is here to offer guidance, whether you need advice or just a friendly chat over a cup of coffee.
All our staff have been trained in Emotion Coaching, a supportive approach that helps us understand children’s feelings and behaviors. By focusing on emotions and experiences, we can guide children in managing their feelings in a healthy way.
We also have a dedicated wellbeing space in school called KCAR (Keep Calm and Relax). This is a quiet, comforting area with beanbags and sensory toys where children can take a break and self-regulate. KCAR is also home to our daily lunchtime wellbeing club, where children can choose to take time out from the playground for mindful activities like drawing, coloring, or playing a game.
We work closely with the Mental Health Support Team (NHS) who provide help, support and advice as well as signposting for a whole range of wellbeing concerns at an individual, group or whole school level. They also provide staff training and parent workshops.
If you ever feel we can help, or if you'd just like to pop in for a chat, our doors are always open.
